Get off the streets and back in school, you sanctimonious fools.

I have no problem with immigration. Immigration happens because of economics: we have more jobs here than we have people to take them, so we have immigration: unskilled labor from poor countries, skilled labor from developing countries. With all the proposals in Congress right now over immigration - some draconian, some laughable, none workable - students in various cities, including Dallas, are walking out of their high schools and protesting.

Yesterday, a girl in a car driven by a 15-year-old on their way to the protest had both her hands severed as the car flipped over. Later, the students, waving Mexican flags, stormed city hall.

Whoa now.

The idea behind immigration is that the immigrants, or at least their children, assimilate. That means not storming government buildings waving foreign flags. Of all the things to do do get the government to expand immigration, that isn't it.

Looks like they'd have done better staying in school.

Waving Mexico's flag? Odd when ever I think of someone wanting to be a citizen here, you think they'd be flying the stars and strips. What string of logic were they using?

The main thing that irks me about this situation is the arguments people use for illegal imigration. Besides the fact that Mexicans aren't doing jobs other people don't want, their just getting paid below minimum wage, read this jucy tidbit:

"Remittances from Mexican immigrants in the United States to their families back home are a major source of income in Mexico, second only to oil and surpassing even the tourism industry. Money sent back in 2004 totaled $16.6 billion, a 28 percent increase over the previous year."

Immigrants are doing jobs that Americans are too entitled to do. The problem is that social services is overloaded with illegal workers. Do away with tax funded welfare, and the playing field will be leveled. Of course, some Americans will still believe they are above flipping burgers/mowing lawns or playing mommy.
This is not an immigration issue- it is a lazy issue.
